Parc at Midnight
A decade in the dark !
This year marks the 10th edition of Parc at Midnight. To celebrate, our team dug into the archives to put together a program tracing the history of cult films and the series’ biggest hits at the Parc.
We begin with the first cycle, ORIGINS, a tribute to the films that started the Midnight Movies trend in the late 1960s. t includes ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW (a first for Minuit au Parc!), HAROLD AND MAUDE, ERASERHEAD from the series’ favorite director David Lynch, and the delightfully shocking PINK FLAMINGOS by John Waters (shocking, but said with all the love in the world!). It is also important to highlight the presentation of A HARDER THEY COME, featuring reggae artist Jimmy Cliff, who passed away last November and who also recorded the iconic soundtrack.
The films in this cycle are the very essence of midnight movies.
"Genre cinema has always divided opinions, appealing to some while shocking others. Yet it is through these subversive works that part of the art of cinema has drawn its strength. Many innovative concepts were born from the creativity of their authors. This selection of films won over a large audience during midnight screenings at the time and demonstrated the profitability of so-called “difficult” works. This 10th edition of Parc at Midnight is the perfect opportunity to rediscover these classics."
— Jean-François Lamarche, Directeur de la programmation
To honour the nocturnal tradition, the first cycle will include Friday evening screenings at 11:30 p.m.
