At 50 minutes, Vieille Corneille is a musical docu-fiction — a "docu-sical" — celebrating Quebec icon Louise Forestier. Structured around nine chapters drawn from songs on her latest album, the film follows the 83-year-old artist as she reflects on creation, freedom, aging, death, and the times we live in. Moving between Quebec and Tasmania through the changing seasons, what emerges is a profoundly human portrait — one that transcends the artist herself to speak to all of us.
Set to the music of Louis Dufort and Louise Forestier, Vieille Corneille is both an artistic testament and a celebration of creation as an act of resistance, freedom, and joy. Produced with support from LABE – Let Artists Be, this is a true auteur project: Martin Villeneuve directs, conducts the interviews, and handles cinematography, sound, editing, and color grading.
