Synopsis
Exiled from Iran since her film on the 2009 Green Movement was banned, the filmmaker revisits the disappearance of a cousin executed in Evin Prison during the 1988 purges. Released in 2025, this thought-provoking essay examines the past against a backdrop of intensifying repression and growing resistance and protest in Iran. With a sensitive and poetic approach, this film blends the present with archival footage from the filmmaker’s previous films and videos shared on social media. This work of active remembrance reflects on the power of images to ensure we never forget. (HSB)
