Robert Roussil, a leading figure in Quebec sculpture, was renowned for his bold creations and unwavering commitment to freedom of expression. Since his death in 2013, his legacy has unfortunately tended to fade. Robert Roussil, le cul par terre seeks to revive his memory by exploring his artistic and philosophical world.
Built around a rich compilation of archival footage, this documentary draws on numerous interviews Roussil gave throughout his career. It traces his journey, from his exile in France early in his career to his life in his mill in Tourrette-sur-Loup, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, where he created most of his works. The film opens the doors to his home and studio, while highlighting his sculptures still visible in Montreal, which continue to reflect his influence.
