QCC #26: LAW OF DESIRE
About
In June, for the first time at QCCMTL, we’re diving into the world of Pedro Almodóvar with one of his most provocative and defining early works, Law of Desire (1987).
A feverish blend of melodrama, erotic obsession, and queer desire, the film follows a filmmaker caught between past and present lovers, spiraling into a web of passion, jealousy, and dangerous longing. Bold, transgressive, and unapologetically emotional, Law of Desire also features an early, unforgettable performance from Antonio Banderas, announcing the arrival of a magnetic new screen presence.
We chose this film not only to finally bring Almodóvar into the club, but because it captures something essential to queer cinema: desire in all its messy, obsessive, and transformative power.
