About
LIBRES DE CHOISIR: Special Screening and Guided Exhibition Tour.
As part of Le courage en héritage, an exhibition marking the 50th anniversary of the Centre de santé des femmes de Montréal, you’re invited to a special screening of the documentary Libres de choisir (Picbois Productions), directed by Julie Boisvert and Élise Ekker-Lambert.
This screening is presented in collaboration with Club Sexu.
LIBRES DE CHOISIR offers a rare look into the lives of frontline workers who protect abortion rights. From Montréal to Gatineau and Fredericton, the documentary follows doctors and nurses working in abortion clinics, as well as an expert who goes into the field to document the rise of the anti-abortion movement. Their stories are accompanied by powerful testimonies from women who have had an abortion, breaking the silence and isolation surrounding their experiences.
The screening will be followed by a guided tour of the exhibition Le courage en héritage, included with your ticket.
Presented at WIP to mark the 50th anniversary of the Centre de santé des femmes de Montréal, the exhibition revisits a collective history: that of women who mobilized to reclaim power over their health, their bodies and their choices, and who helped bring lasting change to Quebec society.
Through historical archives and personal testimonies, Le courage en héritage traces the struggles that have shaped sexual and reproductive rights in Quebec, the people who led them and the knowledge passed down from one generation to the next.
Please note that the film and guided tour will be presented in French only.
