Stricken with a rare form of bone cancer and given a 50% chance of survival, Stan, an advertising executive who dreams of writing heroic fantasy novels, lies in a hospital bed, crushed by pain, morphine and the fear of death. Then Darius is brought in — a young man with a gunshot wound, supposedly in a coma. Except that at night, Stan discovers that his new roommate is only pretending. Menacing and bursting with life, Darius has no intention of leaving Stan alone. What begins as a battle of nerves turns into a darkly humorous struggle between the two men, as Darius forces Stan to confront his fears and the growing gap between the heroes he imagines and the man he has become.

L’AUTRE is a grotesque yet tender duel about mortality, identity, and what gives us the will to live. The film is inspired by a hospital stay that nearly cost the director his life.
