About

One-night-only screening followed by a Q&A with the film’s crew.

At the crossroads of musical documentary, art film, and poetic essay, Héritières dives into the world of the orchestral musical project of the same name, bringing together nearly thirty female performers of different ages and cultural backgrounds around themes of maternal legacy and the collective inheritance of women.

More than a simple musical archive, co-directors Lucile Parry-Canet and Karine Pion offer a fully immersive exploration of a process of awareness and healing of intergenerational memories, supported by the album’s narrative thread. The film provides privileged access to recording sessions featuring a wide range of renowned artists such as Kim Richardson, Karen Young, Coral Egan, Marie-Pierre Arthur, Soleil Launière, and many others who generously took part in the project. Blending song with dreamlike instrumental landscapes, the pieces are interwoven with personal testimonies from the performers and poetic, wordless fictional sequences portraying a complex process of forgiveness and reconciliation between a mother and her adult daughter.

In a unique and luminous format where the power of collective strength and sisterhood prevails, Héritières stands as a truly multidisciplinary tribute to the resilience of women across generations.
