AMÉLIE ET LA MÉTAPHYSIQUE DES TUBES
Synopsis
After working on the stunning I Lost My Body and Calamity, Maïlys Vallade and Liane-Cho Han take on their first feature film with this celebrated autobiographical tale by Amélie Nothomb. Sensitive animation breathes life into the memories of the renowned Belgian author, portrayed as a silent baby who, at the age of three, awakens to and marvels at early 1970s Japan, where she lives with her family and their beloved housekeeper Nishio-san. A vibrant homage to Studio Ghibli’s work, this impressionistic coming-of-age fable captivates with its visual purity and its profound philosophical reflection on memory, family, and love. Whether longtime admirers or new audiences, all will be charmed by this nostalgic and sumptuous chronicle. (FNC)
