CINÉMAKTABA

MAKTABA BOOKSHOP is a site specific art project, bookshop and culture space in the heart of the Old Port. Serving as a curatorial process as well as a multi-media outpost, MAKTABA is helmed by Sundus Abdul Hadi and Yassin Alsalman. Part of the mandate of their artistic practice is space exchange within Montréal and locally-driven business collaboration.

CINÉMAKTABA is a new movie series in collaboration with Cinéma Du Musée. With movies curated by Sundus, Yassin and their shop manager Darine, their picks celebrate the cultural, the outer worldly and the dreamscapes of the film medium. Without a specificity in one community, they are looking to expand their space into the cinéma, showing stories of humanity through movies and communal cinema experience.
