Special screening in collaboration with the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts
Directed by Jennifer Alleyn, the film — winner of the Best Canadian Work Award at FIFA 2008 — retraces the career and works of her father, Edmund Alleyn, a key figure in the history of Canadian contemporary art.
This screening, organized to mark the 20th anniversary of the artist’s passing, coincides with the reinstallation of his work Invitation to the voyage at the MMFA.
The screening will be followed by a conversation between Anne-Marie Saint-Jean Aubre, Curator of Quebec and Canadian Contemporary Art at the MMFA, and Jennifer Alleyn, the artist’s daughter. To open the evening, storyteller Paul Bradley will present a short performance inspired by the artist’s work.

Synopsis
An insider’s look on how art impacts life.
Inheriting her father's studio in 2005, Montreal-based filmmaker Jennifer Alleyn awakes after the funeral to find herself drawn to this intimate space, still exuding the artist’s imagination. She shifts through the work in an attempt to prolong the dialogue, to find the missing fragments of her father’s life and understand this free thinker’s mind. Edmund Alleyn was an intense and complex man of integrety who left his mark on Canadian art history.
